Looks delicious

This is a really nice snack and can be made faster than you can dial your local chinese restaurant.  It is inspired by a salt and pepper chilli chicken dish I used to eat a few years ago until I became concerned about the origin of the chicken meat.  Tofu seemed the next logical substitute as you couldn’t taste the chicken anyway. So this recipe is no totally vegan!  If you have szechuan pepper you can use it, otherwise regular black pepper and sea salt will do.

Ingredients: Serves 2

Half a block of firm tofu sliced into large pieces ( I use the one from Dunnes stores)

1 red chilli pepper

1 spring onion

Crushed black pepper

Sea Salt

Flour (or rice flour if gluten free)

sweet chilli sauce

soy sauce ( or tamari if gluten free)

Rapeseed oil for frying
