A trip into Dublin city centre on Wednesday 31st August brought me to KC Peaches in Nassau Street. It’s only opened seven weeks and downstairs isn’t fully finished but you know that doesn’t matter as what is done is spectacular.
If you’re looking for clean, modern surroundings for a quick cuppa with friends, or to while away a few hours surfing the web or catching up on your favourite book then you’ve got yourself a little gem here. With a clever mix of light blue, white and light grey walls, high ceilings, comfortable seating and delicious food here it is. What’s even better is that the seating is at the back (or kind of along the right hand side away from the front). It’s ideal as you’re not on display like zoo animals having to endure the noise of the hustle and bustle as Dublin city frenzies along. As there are plenty of people coming in for a quick cuppa, brekkie, or a light snack people watching still reigns. Great thing about people watching this way iis our Irish weather can’t ruin it.
Another cute feature is that their small sofa in an alcove at the back of the cafe, opposite the washroom. It was my first place to go to but thought better of it as a bit isolated for someone on their own. Saying that it’s a cute and quirky feature I like adding to the whole enjoyment of the experience.
Also you just never know what people will do when they think no-one is watching. When the woman beside me finished her meal she then proceeded to polish her shoes under the table. When the job finished, packed up her things and off into the bustling crowd. I love it.
After a while I headed up to Grafton Street for a quick shoppig spree and then returned to KC Peaches for their lunch offering. The owners have packed a lot of choice into a small area. The array of hot food awaiting me at lunchtime was impressive and looked delicious, sadly I couldn’t eat it this time around. Good news also is that they are listening to what their customers want and are coming up with hot meals which will suit those needing wheat and dairy free. So will eagerly look forward to their arrival. The salads and their herbal teas and wonderful surroundings were good enough for me for now.
I’m looking forward to my next visit and bringing Tony along to sample the menu fully.
